At Elizabeth Styles we offer the full interior design service.
Looking for illuminating ideas? Lighting is everything when it comes to interior design. Getting it right will make your entire space ‘glow’ in more ways than one.
When we are working on your interior design experience, you may be surprised that we advise and discuss your lighting needs at the planning stage of the process, rather than at the end. This is because electricity points must be in the right place to create the right ambiance for the purpose of your room(s). We know lighting should be decorative as well as practical.
Elizabeth Styles can source the most fabulous lights to add impact to your home which are not available on the High Street. From resolutely contemporary to scene stealing glass and metallic designs or detail focus with hints of tradition, we know you will love them and the atmosphere they give.
Here are our lighting design tips:
The kitchen
Having adequate lighting in a kitchen is a must.
If you have a kitchen island, opt for task lighting – for example pendant lights – to make cutting and preparing food easier. You can also install under-cabinet lighting for the same purpose, however, make sure you choose either a diffused light source to avoid reflected glare on shiny worktops, or LED lighting for matte surfaces.
The dining-room
We all enjoy sitting down for memorable meals with family and friends. Your dining room lighting should say ‘welcome’, and the best way to achieve that is to install a statement light above the dining table. A stunning chandelier or pendant light(s) will do the trick. Then layer the lighting with other strategically placed table and floor lamps for a warm, chic and stylish effect.
The living-room
Unlike other rooms in the house, the living room has to serve many different purposes.
Do you use your living room to watch TV, read, play board games, do homework, entertain guests, highlight artwork or read? We’ll ask you these questions in order to plan for your lighting.
So, a mix of task lighting, such as an arched lamp behind the couch or armchair is useful, if you read in your living room. Accent lighting will highlight the art you love to look at.
The bedroom
The best lighting design tip for bedrooms is that you are not restricted to just one ceiling light fixture.
There are a variety of bedroom lighting options that can create a peaceful, relaxing and inviting atmosphere. For example, instead of a ceiling light fixture, you can opt for low-hanging pendant lights or sconces on either side of the bed. Light symmetry works wonders in a bedroom!
At Elizabeth Styles from years of experience, we have created our own unique direction, one that is driven by design, to provide you with exclusive, high quality lighting, furnishings and accessories.
